Angela + John | Del Posto NYC Wedding

I’m so excited to share with you my first wedding in NYC! I absolutely loved shooting here - the textures, the light, the colors - all so much fun to work with! It doesn’t hurt when you have a gorgeous bride & groom to shoot - either.

Just a couple days before Christmas, I photographed the wedding of John & Angela in Manhattan. It was a lovely afternoon (quite warm compared to how cold it is today) just perfect for some shots outside, so we met up right before sunset on the High Line. The backdrops were just spectacular - sunset on the Hudson River, the Empire State Building lit up for Christmas, gorgeous views of Chelsea - and the light was PERFECT! By the photos, you might think there were not many people around, but it was crowded. Fortunately, all the attention didn’t bother these two.

We returned to Del Posto, to get in lots of family photos before the cocktail hour and ceremony. Before dinner was served Angela & John professed their love in an emotional and simple ceremony before their family and friends. I love how intimate this wedding felt - their loved ones were just a few feet away and their vows were very personal.

After the ceremony, they celebrated with a first dance and lots of congratulations by family and friends. The beautiful simplicity and elegance of the wedding reflected them perfectly and I’m honored to be present to witness it!

Congratulations, Angela & John!

Brittany + Jeff | North Raleigh Wedding

The last wedding I shot in Raleigh, was the gorgeous Autumn nuptials of Brittany and Jeff. I shot their engagement photos about a year before at Yates Mill Pond and their wedding had the same beautiful fall backdrop.

We started the day out at the Marriott Crabtree, where Brittany had her makeup done and hung out with the bridal party before getting dressed and heading to Lake Lynn for some pre-wedding photos. Since their ceremony was to be held late in the day, we had a first look before the ceremony to ensure plenty of time for outdoor photos before the sunset. The fall colors looked gorgeous against the purple bridesmaid dresses!

The ceremony and reception were held at the North Hills Club in Raleigh. There was a lovely outdoor pavilion for the ceremony and after that, everyone headed to the reception in the ballroom. Brittany and Jeff are huge Wolfpack fans, and their table decor incorporated that so creatively. Every table was named some element of NCSU - so cute! My favorites were definitely the Mr. Wuf and Ms. Wuf tables. After dinner, the night continued with lots of dancing and wrapped up with a sparkler exit. Congratulations to Brittany and Jeff! I hope to see both of you next time you visit NYC!

Courtney and Jake | All Saints Wedding | Raleigh, NC

Right before leaving Raleigh, I shot Courtney & Jake’s wedding in downtown Raleigh. I knew what sort of quirky cuteness I was getting into since we’d meet up last Fall for an engagement session at Yates Mill Pond. The engagement session was loads of fun and I think they managed to have twice as much fun on their wedding day.

I started the day with the girls who were getting ready and doing a little pre-wedding celebrating at the Doubletree on Hillsborough. After makeup, we all headed over to All Saints Chapel where the girls dressed and waited for the start of the ceremony. Courtney did a gorgeous job with the decor - there were lots of cute details, that reflect their personalities and gave the whole wedding a very intimate, personal feel. The ceremony was held upstairs in the chapel area and after the ceremony the guests went downstairs for the cocktail hour while they flipped the chapel for the reception.

While the guests were enjoying the cocktails, the wedding party took a little walk to Fayetteville Street and the Capitol grounds to squeeze in some shots before dark. The weather was a little overcast and I love the moody look of all the shots we took downtown.

The reception was lots of dancing, some cupcakes to snack on, and a late night snack of Cook Out, which is such as adorable idea! Courtney and Jake escaped through their sparkler exit and drove off into the dark on a Crank Arm rickshaw.

Congrats, you two!
