The Jones Family Session | JC Arboretum Raleigh

Back in May, I had my fourth photo session with the Jones. This time we ventured out to the JC Arboretum, so that Hunter had plenty of exploring to do during the session. I've been shooting the Jones since Erin was pregnant with Hunter and we've been friends for much longer. It's such a joy to watch their family grow and to watch Hunter change so much. I love the age he is right now - so adventurous and definitely growing into a personality all his own. How can you not love these faces?!

I cannot wait for my own little one to be able to play with him! I'm so grateful for such wonderful friends and truly honored that they ask me to capture their family milestones!

Emily & Joe's Raleigh Wedding

On June 13th, I had the honor of shooting Emily & Joe's wedding ceremony and reception. Both were held at Delightful Inspirations, which was so convenient for them and their guests - just walk right into the reception after the ceremony. The weather was gorgeous and definitely not as warm as it could have been for mid-June.

These two did a great job staying calm and laid back the whole day (in case you didn't know that's a major feat for a bride and groom). The ceremony was held out in the garden at the venue and full of touching words and lots of giggles from the bride and groom. Check out the shots of Emily cracking up and Joe with a huge smile on his face.

We packed in lots of family shots and a few formals of just Emily and Joe after the ceremony before we headed into the reception. Like every good reception there was delicious food, lots, of drinks, and plenty of dancing. As big animal lovers, the bride and groom made a donation to the ASPCA in lieu of favors.

One of my favorite parts of the reception was that this crowd really knew how to cut loose on the dance floor. The awesome music provided by Joe Bunn certainly helped! From the first dance of the bride and groom to the Vanilla Ice moves of Joe and his brothers, the dance floor stayed packed. The joy of their family and friends is just so obvious in these shots.

Emily and Joe - Wishing you many years of joy surrounded by the family and friends that love you so much!

The Busted Wheels | Deep South | Downtown Raleigh

This weekend my husband (his name is Tommy-since I don't mention him here very often) played his first gig in his new band as the bassist and singer. I decided to bring my camera along and take a stab at concert photography. Over the years he's been in a variety of bands, but I'm really digging the music style in this one. They're called The Busted Wheels and have a definite blues-y sound, with awesome covers from some of my favorites-White Stripes, The Black Keys and some classic Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Concert photography definitely posed some new challenges, like shooting in a dark bar with spotlights in all sorts of colors, not to mention that the guys move around so much it's hard to keep them from being a big blur. I had a blast shooting and I really can't wait for their next show so that I can bring my camera and take another stab at it.

Check out my favorites and let me know what you think...
