Finally - FINALLY - after 6 months of living in Texas, I shot my first Texas countryside engagement session! I’m so, so excited to share this session with you! Not only was the setting gorgeous, but the couple - oh - Alexa & Joseph - they are just beautiful people inside and out.
I’ll be shooting their wedding next June, so to get to know them a little better and to get comfortable working together, we scheduled an engagement session a couple weeks ago. When Alexa suggested her parent's home, which was on a few acres north of Dallas and included, a horse, cows, pond, hills - I emailed back a YES (and did a little happy dance at home)!
We met up at the home of Alexa’s parents in Van Alstyne and headed to check out the town, because it’s a tiny, adorable Texas town. Of course, everything was closed at 5 on a Saturday, except the BINGO hall - it was hopping! We passed on the chance to do some gambling and did some strolling instead. We found some cute places to hangout - abandoned train cars, overgrown alleys-typical small town stuff.
We headed back to the house and started exploring the property and all sorts of magic happened. The land is just heaven, gorgeous views, so much peace and quiet, but the real magic here is Alexa and Joseph - they have so much chemistry. You can just see the sparks flying when they gaze into each other’s eyes. I love how the whole session has a relaxed, but romantic vibe, which really reflects their personalities.
Not only are these two great, but Alexa’s parents were just so welcoming! I had the best time talking to her mom and felt so at ease in her home immediately. At the end of the day, all the beauty and friendly warmth had me a little reluctant to head back to Dallas.
