I met up with the S family early on a September morning at the Prospect Park Boathouse. It was a gorgeous morning! I'm not much of a morning person, but after this session - I've converted (as long as I can have coffee). The light was spectacular and the park was empty & peaceful. We spent sometime at the Boathouse getting gorgeous family photos and letting Annie walk (with a bit of assistance). Afterward, we wandered over to near Lakeside in the park, which is an area that I just love. The huge trees, the paved paths with statues of historic figures, and the benches right at the foot of the lake. This is also a great spot to toss a little one up in the air and let them crawl around and explore the leaves, so that's just what Annie did. This girl has so much personality. She's got a great laugh and all of that baby chubbiness in all the right places. After an year babies start to lose all the lovely little fat rolls so this was one last opportunity to commemorate them (I'm such a sucker for baby rolls).
One of the best parts of being a Brooklyn family photographer is meeting all the different types of people that live in the City. I love the opportunity to talk with and hear the stories of people that have moved to NYC from all over the country or the world - like the M family who moved here from England. Whether they make Brooklyn their home for life or move somewhere different, eventually, I'm so happy that they will have photos to remember when Annie was one and they lived in Brooklyn.
