There's nothing more exciting for me than photographing a friend's wedding. Don't get me wrong - I love working with my clients, but something about having the honor of shooting the special event of someone you know very well makes me so happy! Last month I had just that opportunity when I headed to Wrightsville Beach to photograph the wedding of my college friend, Katie.
I basically lived at Katie's house during part of my college years and I have a lot of fond memories of hanging out and having great conversations. Now that she lives just 2 hours away in Wilmington, I can catch up with her a couple times a year!
Of course, I was so thrilled to find out last Fall that Katie was engaged. Not long after I found out, she asked me to shoot her wedding and I was just over the moon! The wedding was absolutely gorgeous - from the start to the end - and I had a wonderful time getting to know Matt and his and her family.
We started out the day at Seagrass Salon with hair, makeup, and mimosas, then headed to the beautiful home of a family friend, for Katie to get dressed and for a "first look" (my heart just melted to watch Katie and Matt pray together right before their wedding). The ceremony was at St. Therese Catholic Church in Wrightsville Beach, which was convenient for a few post ceremony shots of just Katie and Matt with the dunes and the water in the background. I love the reception location they chose - The Arboretum (New Hanover County). It was a beautiful, but casual backdrop to end a gorgeous day. Of course - there was plenty of good food and lots of dancing before Katie and Matt headed out in Matt's awesome Scout.
I had an absolute blast shooting this wedding and I was so honored to be asked! Congrats to Katie and Matt! I'm so happy for you and excited to see what the years will bring to your marriage!
