Courtney and Jake | All Saints Wedding | Raleigh, NC

Right before leaving Raleigh, I shot Courtney & Jake’s wedding in downtown Raleigh. I knew what sort of quirky cuteness I was getting into since we’d meet up last Fall for an engagement session at Yates Mill Pond. The engagement session was loads of fun and I think they managed to have twice as much fun on their wedding day.

I started the day with the girls who were getting ready and doing a little pre-wedding celebrating at the Doubletree on Hillsborough. After makeup, we all headed over to All Saints Chapel where the girls dressed and waited for the start of the ceremony. Courtney did a gorgeous job with the decor - there were lots of cute details, that reflect their personalities and gave the whole wedding a very intimate, personal feel. The ceremony was held upstairs in the chapel area and after the ceremony the guests went downstairs for the cocktail hour while they flipped the chapel for the reception.

While the guests were enjoying the cocktails, the wedding party took a little walk to Fayetteville Street and the Capitol grounds to squeeze in some shots before dark. The weather was a little overcast and I love the moody look of all the shots we took downtown.

The reception was lots of dancing, some cupcakes to snack on, and a late night snack of Cook Out, which is such as adorable idea! Courtney and Jake escaped through their sparkler exit and drove off into the dark on a Crank Arm rickshaw.

Congrats, you two!

Megan & Candler | Carolina Beach Wedding

At the beginning of October, I took a trip out to Carolina Beach to photograph Megan and Candler’s wedding. After an awesome engagement session with them in June, I knew that their wedding was going to be a lot of fun. These two have been friends since they were kiddos and I definitely shows - between them and their families.

For their wedding, they chose to plan something intimate and relaxing. They rented out a beach house at Carolina Beach for their closest family and friends and held the wedding ceremony in the afternoon  on the beach and the reception in the home. The weather was absolutely perfect - Carolina blue skies and a nice breeze.  The day was full of emotions - a pre-ceremony prayer between Megan and Candler (what a beautiful way to prepare for their wedding without seeing each other), lovely beach ceremony surrounding by their family and friends, and some of the most touching toasts I have ever heard. There was not a dry eye in the whole house (including my own) when Candler’s sister read their father’s toast. With all the love surrounding these two - I can see so many years of joyful marriage and family life ahead for them!

This was my second beach wedding of the year and I’m totally in love-so much fun and you couldn't ask for a better backdrop and lighting. I hope you enjoy these gorgeous shots from their day!

Mimi & John | Greensboro Wedding | Weir-Jordan House

photocrati galleryOn September 22nd, I made the (shorter than anticipated) drive to Greensboro to capture Mimi & John's wedding. When I arrived, Mimi was ready to get the show on the road! So I snapped some shots of her Mom helping her dress and her putting on the final touches. Since there was no bridal party and some time before the ceremony, we headed over to UNC-G for a "first look" shot and some photos of Mimi & John alone, before mingling with all their family and friends. I'm so glad that we had the time for this! The campus is gorgeous, the sunlight was perfect, and Mimi & John - just adorable! This little bit of alone time also gave them the opportunity to recharge and refocus on each other, before heading back to the Weir-Jordan House for the ceremony. They'll also have all these gorgeous shots that there just wouldn't have been time for if they hadn't made bride and groom photos a priority on their wedding day.

The ceremony was on the lawn of the house and the weather was perfect for an outdoor evening wedding! After some family portraits, the bride and groom joined everyone inside for drinks, a delicious dinner, cake cutting and  dancing. Even with a small group at the reception, there was a crazy dance party - complete with a "robot-off" to Mr Roboto.

Congratulations, Mimi & John! You guys are great and I had a blast being part of your wedding day!
