A. Family Maternity Session | Dallas Maternity Photography

Today I’m sharing a maternity session from last year! It’s been a long time since I’ve done much blogging and I have a lot of catching up to do! This is the perfect summer session - lots of bright color and sunshine! I love that Jessica wore this bubblegum pink caftan dress. It’s the perfect easy breezy maternity look that shows off her personality. There was an outfit change in this session and her maternity overalls are the cutest! This has to be my favorite maternity fashion trend!

I love maternity sessions, because it’s a great opportunity to capture a family before some pretty big changes. A new sibling is such a welcome addition, and looking back on the family before the new baby can really remind us how much things have changed. I particularly love sessions for the second baby. Going from one child to two is such a big transition for everyone!

Here are my favorites from this adorable maternity family session! I hope the color inspires you as you are planning your next session!

Dallas Arboretum Motherhood Session | Dallas Film Maternity Photography

So thrilled to be sharing this film maternity session I shot for my lovely friend Liz, at the Dallas Arboretum. Liz brought along her 1.5 year old little one for part of the session and she was so cute. Busy and curious, as any toddler, she ran around exploring and laughing, but was more than happy to give her baby sister, kisses and her mama, hugs.

Having a second child brings a whole new set of changes to a family. You already know to expect the sleep deprivation and the constant needs of a newborn, but you don’t know how you’ll manage that and the previous life with your first born. Liz’s composure and peace about this new little one is so inspirational. It is such an honor to photograph motherhood and families. What a gift a new life is and I can’t not wait to meet this little one!

G Family | Dallas Fine Art Family Photography

Although the majority of my photography is wedding related, every now and then I have a chance to shoot a family session and they are always so much fun! Marriage results in the creation of a family, (even if it’s just the husband and wife family) so photographing a family is an opportunity to capture the next phase of a marriage. Of course, I’m a bit of a sucker for some cute babies now that I’m a mom, so I’ll never turn down the opportunity to hang out with one (and maybe sneak a cuddle).

When Megan asked me to take photos of their family, I knew the exact location - Arbor Hill Preserve in Plano. It’s such a gorgeous location with lots of natural beauty and some paved paths for crawling. I’m so glad that we did this session when we did, because Jack is just ready to move! In the next couple months this kid is going to be sprinting everywhere, so it was a great idea to get some photos of him before that next big milestone.

Before our shoot, I sent Megan some style boards for inspiration on their outfit choices and I think it really paid off. They looked so great together and their coordinating choices elevated the quality of the photos. I love to offer custom inspiration boards to my clients for their portrait sessions. Choosing outfits can be so overwhelming and I love to do anything I can to relieve some of that stress from my clients.

Here are some of my favorites from our session. Hope you enjoy!
